The Skull Means Nothing is a retrospective "best of" (worst of?) Hyperdriver up to 2002. Although Hyperdriver dates from September 1998 a few of these tracks, In Your Face, Laughing Boy, Vomiting Blood and Paroxysms, were done before that date.
I was playing live a lot at the time. I was older that all of the other acts but not embarrassingly so, unlike now. Ageism is alive and well in the world (unless you play "rock"). I always took CDs with me and people would ask which was the best one. I realised I needed a "sampler" and so Skull was born. I added a few extra previously unreleased tracks as a bit of value for those collectors who would get the CD regardless.
The name of the album came about from the cover of the first Hyperdriver album This Distorted life, which had a drawing of a cow skull on the cover. Someone asked me what the skull meant. My reply was "nothing".
So, enjoy. Or don't. I've been ploughing this particular furrow for too long to give a damn. People say that I am like Marmite. i'm not sure whether that's because they either love me or hate me, or because I smell like shit. I suspect the latter.
Love and peace
